PE and Sports Grant
In March 2013 the government announced that it was to provide funding of £150 million per annum to improve the provision of physical education and sport in primary schools in England – This funding is called the Primary PE and Sport Premium.
Purpose of the funding
The PE and sport premium is allocated to schools to help them provide additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of the physical education, physical activity, and sports they provide. The funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on the provision of PE and sport in schools.
At Prees CE Primary School we work with our local Secondary School to support the development of children’s skills in PE and provide opportunities to experience a range of sports both competitive and non-competitive.
The children also benefit by working with external coaches such as representatives from the Shropshire Cricket Board and swimming teachers.
They further enjoy a greater variety of opportunities during Sports Week, including instruction in climbing, canoeing, and sailing.
